Tala Teaching Fellowship for the First 1000 Days of Life

Using the Bridging Leadership framework, teachers and students learn how local change can be advanced through dialogue and Participatory Action Research.

An Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) problem set will be defined at the local level, and students will be matched with Tala Teaching Fellows to supervise them.

Tala Teaching Fellows work on the gaps in the first 1,000 days of children within their towns, cities, and provinces.

The objectives of the Tala Teaching Fellowship program are:

1. to mobilize academic talents to solve local real-world problems in maternal and child health

2. to improve student employability by giving them unique project portfolios that differentiate them

3. to provide a platform for teachers and students to deploy hone their leadership and changemaker skills

By aligning student activities, such as surveys, interviews, volunteer projects, student org activities, term papers and theses with local child development needs, Tala Fellows increase community awareness and engage local leaders in problem-solving conversations.

Tala Teaching Fellows and their students are encouraged to share their research findings through 3-minute Youtube videos.
